ABOUT US

In 1995 I started by designing an internet page for myself just to show our family what was going on and in an attempt to keep up with the present day advances in technology. Having spent 34 years with the FAA and having spent some time teaching and building computers for a small company in California. It also keeps me in tune with a son working as an engineer for INTEL and a daughter laid off after working as a Senior Applications Engineer for OHSU in Oregon 23 years and another son deeply involved in Barrington Village Church as a Media Director and Young Adult Pastor. I started by designing and maintaining sites for several Non profit organizations Now I am doing a few small local businesses. Please check our design portfolio link.

I am using two backbone servers now with most of the sites being hosted off Go Daddy servers in Scottsdale Arizona and a few off The Planet in Dallas TX All my domains are registered through Go Daddy I like being able to talk with them 24/7 on the phone right now they are the largest Domain Registry in the world with over 40 million domains.

How Big is the Internet?

It may be that what most people mean when they ask the size of the Internet is how many bytes it takes up. Estimating that is a fairly difficult task, but one person made an estimate not so long ago who can probably be trusted to have a good idea. Eric Schmidt, the CEO of Google, the world’s largest index of the Internet, estimated the size at roughly 5 million terabytes of data. That’s over 5 billion gigabytes of data, or 5 trillion megabytes. Schmidt further noted that in its seven years of operations, Google has indexed roughly 200 terabytes of that, or .004% of the total size.

There are thought to be some 155 million websites on the Internet, but this number fluctuates wildly from month to month, and one runs into a problem of what exactly constitutes a website. Is a person’s individual Facebook page its own website? How about their LiveJournal or blog? What if the blog is hosted by a blog service?  Facebook has the most traffic and boasts over 350 million
subscribers. see How big is the internet
